RTÉ’s brand new quiz show seeks contestants

A new quiz show will be hitting your screens this year, testing people’s knowledge of the last 40 years and we are looking for teams to take part now.

In each show, teams of three friends and/or relatives will battle it out for the top prize, answering questions from the last four decades of memorable moments, from sport and TV to politics and pop!

Clare island Film Festival 18 - 20 Sept

2015 sees the festival working on developing the short film focus. There will be at least two feature length films over the course of the festival, but the remainder will be a feast of easily digestible shorts. The shorts screening slots will be about an hour long each, which will hopefully encourage people to hop on the ferry and catch a few films over the weekend!

The Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht announced funding for the promotion of Irish arts abroad.

Under its Summer 2015 grants round, Culture Ireland has awarded €321,500 to eighty-five applicants including individual artists and arts organisations to support the presentation of their work globally. This funding will provide considerable opportunities for the promotion of Irish arts and culture around the world throughout the remainder of 2015 and into 2016.

Galway City of Film and RTÉ announce a new Short Film Commission.

RTÉ, in partnership with Galway Film Centre and Galway Film Fleadh, are delighted to announce a new Short Film Commission Scheme. Writers are invited to submit a story idea and the best three ideas will be selected and receive a prize of €500 each. These three writers will then be mentored by an experienced Script Editor to bring their idea from a story outline to a finished script. From this, one script will be selected and the winning script will be made into a short film.

Irish Film Board to be renamed as Screen Ireland

The Minister for Arts Heather Humphreys announced plans to change the name of the Irish Film Board to Screen Ireland. The move was supported by IFB Chairman Bill O'Herlihy shortly before he passed away last May.

According to the Minister, the change of name "reflects the broader remit of the agency as the promoter of the Irish film, TV and animation sector."
