Splanc Call for Submissions
Splanc! is the Irish language arts documentary scheme that supports the creative exploration of the arts in Ireland. This season aims to fund short films of 3 – 5 minutes in duration on any art form which will form a collective response to 100 years of art in Ireland. A total fund of €120,000 is available to support up to nine short films.

The wild men of Irish comedy, the Hardy Bucks, are back this October Bank Holiday with a new series which was filmed and edited in Swinford, County Mayo. And this time the regular cast are joined by well known Irish actresses – Fair City’s Aoibheann McCaul and Susan Loughnane from Love/Hate.
Building on the success of their feature film, The Hardy Bucks Movie, the boys have begun filming six new episodes in Swinford, Co. Mayo.

GMarsh TV are delighted to announce that their children’s series ‘Our Farm’ has been nominated for an IFTA in the ‘Children’s and Young People’s’ category.
Filmed on the slopes of Nephin Mountain near Lahardane Co. Mayo, ‘Our Farm’ is a fifteen-part series of six-minute episodes exploring daily life on the Doyle family farm as seen through the eyes of the Doyle children, Liam (10), Dearbhile (8), Ailbhe (5) and Féilim (3).

Now in its 4th year the Irish based Why Not? Adventure Film Festival will be returning to Linenhall Arts Centre Castlebar and the Welcome Inn Hotel Castlebar on Oct 8th . 167 films from 37 countries were submitted this year with only 14 being selected for the official programme.

The Field 25th Anniverary Festival took place in Leenan last week (September 25th/26th). There was a great crowd at the launch, which took place in the community centre. A photographic exhibition by photographer Rod Tuach adonerd the walls, Rod was the set photographer on The Field. The local community had also lent their precious images of the shoot and these too were on display, along with local paintings of characters from The Field. Remembering Actor and Reverand Roger Grainger
Rev and actor Roger Grainger (81) had considerable experience of both professional and amateur theatre, having started out in radio with BBC Children's Hour and trained at RADA, and worked with Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop and afterwards at the Old Vic. He had also taken part in a range of TV series, some of his acting experience included, episodes of 'Last of the Summer Wine', beginning with the episode called 'The Odd Dog Man' ( late 1970s), an episode of 'Heartbeat' (1980's) and 'Remember Me' a TV Drama, starring Michael Palin.

Draíocht Mhaigh Eo - Archival film footage from Co. Mayo has been obtained from the Irish Film Institute. The film footage is silent, and with funding received through DEIS, the traditional arts funding scheme of the Arts Council of Ireland, a new piece of music was commissioned to accompany the film. This music has been composed by two Westport residents: Achill native and Pipe Major of the Clew Bay Pipe Band, Des Cafferkey, and Bartholomew de Boer, originally from Poland, producer and engineer at the Clew Bay Recording Studio.
